In a spectacular display of skill and determination, Scottie Scheffler has clinched his 20th title on the PGA Tour by triumphing at The American Express, finishing with an impressive score of 27 under par, four strokes clear of his closest competitors.
Despite encountering a setback when he hit the ball into the water on the 17th hole, resulting in a double-bogey, Scheffler maintained his lead effectively. He ended the day with a commendable six-under-par 66 in the final round, sealing his victory with confidence. As the current world No. 1, he has certainly kicked off the year on a high note, marking an important milestone in his career.
"I focused on staying patient and executing my shots when it was crucial," Scheffler reflected on his performance. "Playing on the PGA Tour has always been a dream of mine, and I feel immensely grateful not only to compete but also to win tournaments."
Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam all finished tied for second place, each wrapping up the tournament at 23 under par.
Additionally, one of the memorable moments of the event came from teenager Blades Brown, who gained attention for his strong performance. He was just one shot off the lead going into the final round but struggled on Sunday, finishing with a two-over-par 74, which placed him at 19 under par and tied for 18th position.
